The Kosary's
The Kosary Family
     Growing up on the south side of Chicago near Marquette Park, Chris took the venerable Chicago Style hot dog for granted. When he married a woman from a small Indiana town in October of 1985, they moved into an apartment in Lansing, IL.. Chris still worked in the "Loop", the downtown area of Chicago, and Vienna hot dogs were a lunchtime favorte.

In 2004, Chris and his beautiful bride Jodi moved from Lansing, IL to Rensselaer, IN so that Jodi could be closer to her family. Chris continued to commute to his office in downtown Chicago, a total of 85 miles each way, for a little over a year.

When the commute finally became too much, Chris quit working in Chicago started helping out in the family restaurant. After a year or so, Chris really missed the food from his home town and decided to bring a bit of Chicago to Rensselaer and The Doghouse was born!

In early 2009, Jodi & Chris looked at what they had made and examined how they were going to keep what they started going.  Without children of thier own, the needed to find someone young enough to take up in thier footsteps and relieve the pressures of running the shop.  They chose Rayann & Chris Gilmore to take on that task.  They worked together and moved The Doghouse from it's beginnings at College & Kannal into a beautiful building in historic, downtown Rensselaer.

Located at the corner of Washington (US-231) & Front Streets in Rensselaer, Indiana. the new Doghouse serves the food Chris K. grew up on in Chicago, the way it is meant to be served, using only the best ingredients and keeping with the Vienna tradition. He serves an affordable and filling meal and proudly points to his motto of;

"If you're lookin' for good food, cheap...
...never follow a skinny person!"
