 The Doghouse is pleased to announce two big pieces of news, one of which should make almost everyone giddy!
First, we would like to introduce everyone to our new partners, Rayann & Chris Gilmore. Running this place has been hard on Jodi and me and we really needed someone who brings fresh blood to the place to help us keep it going strong for a long time to come. Rayann & Chris are those people. They go to Brushwood UMC with us and have become very good friends. Chris brings energy and quick learning to the table and Rayann brings great business skills and a warm personality. They are a great fit with us and we feel a great addition to The Doghouse as well. We hope you get a chance to meet them and welcome them to the family. Secondly ... and this is BIG! The Doghouse will be moving. We are pleased to announce as well as Downtown Rensselaer and Mayor Herb Arihood, the purchase of a building located at 221 West Washington Street. The location was once the home of TJ's Unfinished Furniture and has been vacant for some time. This new home will give us a chance to really transform The Doghouse into everything it can be. Not only are we moving the restaurant, but with this new location, we are going to add more! This new building has a full basement and we are going to use every inch of it to bring you Rensselaer's only indoor MINIATURE GOLF course! The plan as we see it right now, calls for nine holes (sorry, that's all we can really fit and still make it fun) that are going to change with time. We are taking a play out of the Walt Disney World playbook for keeping things fresh and new. They paint and spruce up The Magic Kingdom on a continual basis, working from one end to the other, then start all over again. In our case, we will be changing out the holes every three to four months, just to keep things interesting. The down side to all of this is that we are sad to announce that we will be closed for the month of July 2009. We need time to focus on the new location, get everything moved in and have everything as perfect as we can for opening day on August 3rd. Come join us at the Jasper County Indiana Fair on Tuesday, July 14th for Doghouse Day at the Fair. We will be having a couple of contests, be serving some of our food and will cap the day off with a BPM CHALLENGE! The winner will walk away with a new title and the glory of knowing just how big a glutton for punishment he or she really is.
